One con too is that you can't steer unless it's pumping water. With an outboard or stern drive you can steer even if you're just coasting

I’ve always been my understanding that the engines in these things don’t last very long. (Goes generally forget boats too of course). I’ve heard of so many folks that have had to call on their warranties for engine problems if not replacement. And personally, the reputation and displays of behaviour of most owners, is something I’ll stay away from for good reason. I’ll stick with boats.

Buy a boat for yourself and rent a PWC whenever you get the itch for some adrenaline! At least thats what Im doing until I have money to get both haha. Also PWC is a big plus if you have other friends that have them too and you can explore together.

I now have a Merry Fisher. Sociable, dry, has a toilet, can cope with bad weather. But it's sooo boring. I miss my jetski every day! I need to have both....

My wife and I are looking to get our first boat. Just for cruising around the intracoastal waterway of southeastern NC, and for fishing. A pontoon or tritoon would probably be the best fit

Been boating all my life, back in 2011 we bought a ar210 NEVER BUY THESE BOATS… unless you plan on never using a dock.. WHAT A NIGHTMARE.. ZERO CONTROL at slow speeds. Don’t listen to the people telling you otherwise.. the “learning curve” is basically accepting that there are things you cannot do with this boat that normal boats do effortlessly… the aftermarket “stuff” does not help.. do you really want to be trying to dock an oversized jet ski around millions of dollars worth of boats around you? No of course not. Jet boats are not meant for anything but trailering... and god forbid there is a current, wind, or a change of tides when trying to dock.

My trailer has rollers in the back, bunks in the middle, and then a keel roller in the front. It's from the 70's, so maybe I should upgrade to full bunks. 17' Century Raven.

To anyone who wants to get into watersports PLEASE don't get either of these. Once you ski behind a true inboard inboard nothing will be the same. Your heart will sing. Colors will be brighter. You will never want to go near an i/o again.

They're both terrible for water sports, and they chop people's legs off and waste fuel. Get an inboard inboard. DONT GET A MALIBU though. Cheap gimmick boats.

Hi, great videos I have a 2020 150 Yamaha 150xca and it bleeds down at the dock and underway and I have to keep adjusting the trim up as it bleeds down,my dealer says this is normal and that is why you need to put the engine rest bar down so it will not bleed down over night,i do not believe this is normal ,and they tell me that Yamaha will not warranty this, what is your input,thankyou

I worked the boating market with two different diesel engine manufacturers. Diesel engines cost more upfront but use less fuel, often have lower insurance rates for the entire boat. Many owners of boats with with large gasoline engines have upgraded to diesel in recent years. I thought the video was excellent, as a rule of thumb boats that operate in salt water require 10-15% of the original cost of the boat in maintenance every year. Boats used for family activities typically have a small item added to the boat every time it is used. It can be additional carpet, more fishing poles or a big upgrade would be addition of a generator. All of this can and is a lot of fun but it is expensive.

I as a fiberglass tech of 40 years and having been trained by Gougeon Brothers West System, Mini-Craft and many other fiberglass/gel workshops and technical courses, this video was very good at explaining a blistered boat, but I think you missed the boat on what causes the majority of blistered boats. I have repaired hundreds of blistered boats over the years and peeled complete hulls and epoxied many, many boats and all of my training has taught me that the blisters come from a boat that had uncured or improperly catalyzed resin that then, and because gel coat is porous, mixes with water and that in turn turns into a gas; the gas then expands and the weakest link is the gel coat. That is why a boat may have blisters. A void in the hull can get water trapped inside it and freeze in the northern states causing a blister but it is the exception rather than the rule. It’s the uncured resin and water that make a gas that primarily causes blistering.

I've seen much negative on bayliner cuddy cabins on the web as well but I broke down and bought a 37 year old (1987) ciera 2150 for $800 ANYWAY, WITHOUT A SURVEY OR A MECHANICAL INSPECTION! Folks, you don't want to store a boat with an empty internal fuel tank. The tank can start to corrode over lengthy time. If your boat engine runs on unleaded gas, I recommend ethenol free and an octane rating of at 89/91. also, 2 cans of Seafoam and/or some Starbrite for gas treatment. Before boating season, I would change the water seperator filter (that thingy looks like an oil filter).

If you angle the strakes or just a lip on outer edge it would stop water escaping from under pontoons and provide a lot more lift at lower speeds.

Can a prop be changed while a boat is on a lift?

If you have a tandem or a triple and the suspension gets very load, (leaf spring type)check your equalizers as the holes may be egged out and will need replaced , also there is a new bearing buddy out there with blue inserts which tells you when to add grease !

Hang your tenders at the right height ight. But that is just the question as a new “boater” WHAT is the right height??

So my question would be if you take a long drive and don’t railed with a cover on how do you protect against potential rain storms you’d drive through? Are there products that help protect the cockpit mechanicals from stuff like that?

Dialectric grease on the terminals and your connections helps prevent corrosion. Trailer hookups as well keeps moisture out
